Relocate from NYC to NM
I grew up in NM and went to NYC at 18. I never thought I would come back, but alas here I am. I moved back 4 years ago and what a ride it’s been. I have learned more, been challenged more, healed more, felt more chaos and ungroundedness in this short time than ever before. I “thought” I was moving to be closer to nature, live on the land, grow my own food, and remove myself from a city grid. Little did I know I would be catapulted with one challenge after another that would not allow me to “stick to my plans.” It’s been an interesting journey and the majority of the time I was unsure I wanted to stay in New Mexico. The question always was, where to go?
Fast forward to a couple months ago: I was given the opportunity to treat a client from NYC. It was so lovely to see her after many years. Like many of us, she was in a tough spot. It was a beautiful and intense treatment. During treatment I looked out big office windows that view out onto the high desert mountains and could sense the land on which I grew up completely supporting and surrounding us. That was the first experience since I have returned that fully rooted me to this location. I am grateful to witness such healing. The addition of this land supporting us humbles me. I am reminded of one of my early acupuncture treatments before becoming an acupuncturist in which I felt the table, the earth beneath the concrete jungle, supporting me. I am committed to my work as a healer and am grateful to be on this beautiful land supporting us.
